Seeking Co-Authors for a Scientometric Paper on Global North Domination in Cultural Studies
Dear Colleagues,
I am looking for collaborators interested in exploring the Global North’s dominance in cultural studies through a scientometric approach.
We would analyze the disparities in authorship, citation patterns, and editorial representation between scholars from the Global North and Global South using bibliometric (meta)data from SCimago and Scopus. We will also investigate how institutional affiliations and research topics reflect systemic inequities in knowledge production. I am open to further discussion, my preliminary key questions include: 1. whether Global South scholars face barriers to visibility, how editorial boards contribute to gatekeeping, and whether research topics are biased toward Global North perspectives. 2. how diverse are networks in publication, 3. how diverse are top journals’ editorial boards?
If you’re interested in addressing these critical issues and contributing to a meaningful project, please feel free to reach out.
